Here are some helpful hints and instructions on how to best use our website:
Resource Library
The Resource Library is a collection of documents you can view on-line. Next to each folder is a [+] symbol. Click on that symbol with your mouse to expand the folder. Once expanded, you can browse through the various documents. Some folders, such as Committees, have more folders nested within them. Click again on [+] to expand that folder. When you see a document, you can either view it on line, download it to your computer or print it.
Use our website's Resource Library to access agendas and minutes to both Board and Committee meetings. Agendas and minutes of our Board Meetings are found under the Board Meetings folder. Agendas, minutes and other applicable documents for Committees are found under the Committees folder and then each Committee has its own folder.
The Resource Library also contains important documents such as our CC&Rs, Bylaws and Rules and Regulations; these are found under the Governing Documents folder.
Explore this library of documents to better gain information and knowledge about how our entire Association operates.
Hyperlinks
Located on many pages of our website are hyperlinks that give you the ability to immediately jump to another page or section. These hyperlinks are identified by gray or beige text. When you move your mouse over this special text, the mouse cursor will change from a pointer to a pointing hand and the text will become underlined. In some cases, leaving your mouse pointer over the hyperlink will display text explaining where this hyperlink will take you. Clicking your mouse button will take you to this particular page or section.
Search
One of the most powerful features of this website, Search enables you to search all the documents connected to this website for a given word or phrase. If you would like to research a certain topic, such as anything having to do with our lake, simply type in the word "lake" into the field entitled Search Criteria and then click on the Search button.
The search feature will then list its results. It also displays how many results (pages that contain the word or phrase) it found. With your mouse, scroll down the list and look for documents that might contain information you are looking for. Click either on the View On-line, Download or Print icons.
Calendar
Our website has a powerful calendar that shows up-coming events here at SVLA. It displays the calendar for the current month. At the top-middle of the calendar, you can click your mouse on the down arrow to select another month to view; or you can use the right and left arrows at the top of the calendar to go to the next or previous month.
You will notice that it looks like a typical calendar. For each day, there is a bulleted list that contains each event for that day. If you click your mouse on an individual bulleted item or event, it will display another page describing more detail on that event such as the time, location and other information. You can click on the Return button to return to the Calendar.
For Microsoft Outlook users, a powerful feature of the calendar is the ability to download calendar events. These events can in turn be imported into Outlook's calendar. To download a specific calendar event from our website, scroll the calendar page down past the calendar to list all the individual events. Find the one you want to download. Click on the Download Event button. A window will appear which will ask you where to save the event. Save it to your computer's desktop. When downloading is complete, minimize all program windows and locate the event on your desktop. Double click on it. The event should now be in a Outlook window where you can make any changes and then save it. The event will now be in your Outlook calendar.
